Our client require an Occupational Therapist with social services/adaptation experience to provide an Occupational Therapy service to meet the identified needs of people with a physical disability

We are recruiting for 2 vacancies at 37 hours per week

£21.51/hr

Job Role

  • To carry out a comprehensive assessment of service users including those with complex needs to promote and maintain maximum independence in accordance with the Directorate’s statutory duty.
  • To carry a full caseload in accordance with level of experience.
  • To liaise with, and offer professional advice to other professions as in Health, Social Services and voluntary sector, etc., in relation to the provision of occupational therapy services to service users.
  • To provide advice and instruction on appropriate equipment and ensure its safe use by all those involved, e.g., service user, family, carers.
  • To liaise with other directorates/agencies/contractors with regard to making recommendations for major structural adaptations.
  • To make recommendations on re-housing where adaptations are inappropriate.
  • To provide advice and support to the service user and their family or carers.
  • To keep accurate and up to date records on Carefirst in accordance with Directorate policy and procedures, compiling reports and statistical data as required.
  • To participate in initiatives around quality issues within the Directorate.
  • To promote and implement the Council’s Equality Policy in all aspects of employment and service delivery.
  • To act as clinical supervisor to OT students on placements within the Directorate.
  • To participate in Directorate in-house training sessions as appropriate.
  • To be responsible for keeping up to date with current trends and developments in OT to ensure good practice and to participate in learning opportunities whenever possible.
  • To be familiar with and understand the implications of relevant current legislation.
  • To develop and keep a CPD portfolio.
  • To be actively involved in training/joint working initiatives with Health and other Social Services colleagues and voluntary agencies.

Your Requirements

  • Recognised professional qualification in Occupational Therapy (Degree or Diploma)
  • Knowledge and understanding of relevant legislation relating to community care, disability, carers, with knowledge of current safeguarding policies and procedures
  • Able to advocate on behalf of service users with a commitment to service user empowerment
  • Effective assessment, planning and reviewing skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks and manage workload autonomously
  • Able to summarise, analyse and evaluate complex information
  • Excellent recording and report writing skills using electronic data information systems
  • Awareness of the impact of disability on quality of life and independence
  • Able to contribute to, and work within, a supportive team environment
  • Able to liaise effectively with other agencies and professionals
